☑️ Adding Options/Modifiers, Universal Options

Adding Options in the POS System

In BotX POS, there are two main types of options that can be added to products:

1. Product/Item Options

Product/Item Options are modifiers that are applied to individual products or items when selected in the POS. These options allow customers to customize or add extras to a specific product.

For example, when ordering a sandwich, the customer may have options to add cheese, extra meat, or other toppings. These are product/item level options and will not apply to any other product in the category. This is useful for things adding options for steak rareness for a ribeye steak, which we will use for this example.

To add options, find the Create/Edit the Product in the Menu:

Scroll down to the "Options" section,

  1. Add new options by tapping "Add New Option+".

  2. Name the Modifier Group (Ex. Steak Rareness)

  3. Select whether the option is required for order entry.

  4. Change the sort order of the options, if needed.

  5. Make the Modifier Group visible from QR/Kiosk mode, if needed.

  6. Add Values

    1. Edit Sort order, price, and cost for the modifiers themselves.

  7. Set the visibility of the options/modifiers on QR/Kiosk mode.

After you've finished configuring the options, tap "Submit" to save your changes.

You can test the item button in the POS by using "Register"

2. Universal Options

Universal Options are modifiers that are applied to all products within a specific category. These options affect the entire category of products, rather than just a single item.

For example, a Ramen restaurant may have Toppings options that they want applied to all ramen bowls in the category ex. add Corn, add Egg, add Mushroom, etc.

Universal options provide a way to consistently apply modifiers across an entire product category, rather than having to configure the options individually for each product, this could save a lot of time during the menu build and should be used whenever possible.

You can also exclude certain items in the category from showing the Universal Options by assigning the universal option to the category, then going into the individual item and selecting the universal option under exclusion

By understanding the difference between these two types of options, you can effectively configure your POS system to provide the desired customization and pricing for your products and services.
